New search tools have been added to https://discoverylibrary.org/SWASFT to help you find prehospital and healthcare information more quickly and effectively.
To access content you will need a SWASFT OpenAthens account – register at https://openathens.nice.org.uk/
All SWASFT staff (including honorary and voluntary) and students on placement are eligible to register.
New tools include:
- NHS Knowledge and Library Hub which brings together a vast range of databases, journals, NICE guidance and other support tools in one place.

- LibKey article lookup use the article’s Digital Object Identifier (DOI) or PubMed ID (PMID) to quickly access subscribed content or request copy

- LibKey Nomad Downloadable browser tool that when a scholarly publisher page or others incl PubMed, Wikipedia loads, system checks and links to local content

- PubMed link for SWASFT includes a SWASFT link on the right-hand side of each record to check article availability

AS WELL AS THE NEW SEARCH TOOLS MENTIONED ABOVE YOU STILL HAVE ACCESS TO LITERATURE DATABASES FOR IN-DEPTH SEARCHES
via the NHS England subscribed healthcare databases :
AMED (via Ovid)– allied and complementary medicine including palliative care
BNI (via Proquest)– nursing, midwifery and community healthcare
CINAHL (via Ebsco)– nursing and allied health~
Embase (via Ovid) – biomedical and pharmaceutical literature
Emcare (via Ovid) – nursing and allied health
HMIC (via Ovid) – healthcare management
Medline (via Ovid or Via Ebsco) – biomedical, life sciences, allied health and pre-clinical sciences literature
To access the NHS subscribed databases you will need a NHS Athens account.
